My child has never danced, and I‘m not sure they’re ready. Should we try dance?
You’ve come to the right place! We have a Tiny Dancer program designed to introduce 3-4 year olds to the world of dance! If your child is 5+ and has never danced before, we have beginning through intermediate dance classes, and will work with you to find just the right fit!
Rest assured, in the right class, with a teacher who will nurture your child’s confidence and encourage their progress, your child will feel like dance is their second home!
How do I register my child?
Ready to register? You can register online here! Select your classes and submit payment online to enroll. If you have any questions about registration, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 813.515.7993. We can also help you get registered over the phone, or just pop in the studio and our friendly staff will assist!
Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year, however we encourage enrolling students at the beginning of the season as our classes progress in skill-building over the course of the season.
How long is the season/term?
The season for our Youth Program tracks with the school year, beginning in August and ending at the beginning of June.
How does tuition work?
Your child is enrolled for one school year; tuition is the yearly cost divided into monthly payments. We require all students to be enrolled in recurring/automatic debit for your convenience. Tuition is automatically charged to the credit card on file on the 1st of each month.
Students are able to change or cancel enrollment at any time. Should you decide to cancel your enrollment, we request written notice (via email) prior to the 1st of the month so we are able to update our records and terminate the auto-payment. Notice provided after the 1st of the month will be effective at the end of that calendar month.
There are no refunds for missed classes (due to travel, illness, etc.), however, we offer and encourage makeup classes should your child miss a class!
Is there a dress code?
There is no formal dress code for adult classes. Wear what makes you comfortable! You may dance barefoot, or wear ballet shoes, jazz shoes, jazz sneakers, etc. No street shoes are allowed in the studio.
We do have a dress code for our Youth Program – you can check it out here!
Can parents watch class?
Absolutely! Parents can watch classes via our camera that is linked to a TV in our comfortable waiting area. Parents also get to watch their child perform at our annual Winter and Spring Dance Concerts each season.
My child wants to be on competition team – how does that work?
Competition team is for students who have a serious interest in advancing their technique and performance opportunities. Competition team students are required to train at least three times a week, participate in a dance convention, and compete in several competitions a year in the Tampa Bay area.
Students must audition to be a part of competition team. Competition auditions are held at the end of our Spring season for existing students, and a second audition is hosted in Fall for potential new students interested in being a part of the team, BUT auditions aren’t everything! We take into account each students’ attendance, their commitment to practicing, their respect for other students and teachers, their level of technique, and their overall passion for dance.
Participating in competition team has many benefits! Performing in front of an audience is an important part of dance and can help teach important life skills for your child. Recreational classes lay the foundation of proper dance technique and movement, and competitive dance provides further opportunities for a student to develop confidence in his/her ability to perform and grow as a dancer, while learning the invaluable power of teamwork, discipline and perseverance. It allows students to explore and experience areas of dance outside of the studio, which is crucial for their growth and expanding their overall creativity.
Do you have an annual recital/concert?
Yes! The Spring Dance Concert is our annual showcase where all students have the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre, and demonstrate the skills and artistry they’ve learned over the course of the season. All students are expected/encouraged to participate in the Spring Concert.
We also have a more informal Winter Dance Concert in December to celebrate the holiday season.
